Leurs autobiographies et textes théoriques sont un moyen pour elles de préciser leur conception de la danse, et de l’inscrire dans le temps. Nous interrogeons la figure de la danseuse-écrivaine, en étudiant le passage du corps dansant au texte. Pourquoi les danseuses écrivent-elles ? Comment la danse se traduit-elle en mots sous la plume des artistes ? Quelle est la place du corps dans le procédé de rédaction, et par extension dans la lecture ? Il s’agit en somme de réfléchir à une réception littéraire des écrits de danseuses. Through a study of the writings of dancers from the early choreographic modernity (the American Modern Dance, the German Ausdruckstanz, and the Ballets Russes), we seek to detect the specificities of a dancer's writing, different from the writing of dance by writers. The artists' texts – autobiographies and theoretical texts – enable them to clarify their conception of dance, and to inscribe it in time. We then question the figure of the dancer-writer, by studying the transition from the dancing body to the text. Why do dancers write? How is dance translated into words by artists? What is the place of the body in the writing process, and by extension in reading? In short, it is about thinking of a literary reception of the writings of dancers.
